2013 FRINGE Spotlight: Movie Scrapple

Philly Improv Theater (PHIT) announces the premiere of MOVIE SCRAPPLE, a live movie Fringe2013Scrapple4x6Frontriffing event, during this year’s Philly FringeArts festival in September.

Movie Scrapple is a stage show that looks at some of the strangest and most offbeat films Hollywood has made with live running commentary from local Philadelphia comedians. The FringeArts run will feature the infamous 1959 Ed Wood film “PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE”, widely considered to be the worst movie ever made.

Commenting on the film will be comedians Joe Coughlin, Shannon DeVido, D.C. Fisher, Brian Kelly, and Cara Schmidt with additional written material from Mike Butler and Alex Vogelsong. The show is directed by Joe Coughlin and produced by Kristen Schier.

“I’ve long been a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000,” said Movie Scrapple director and host Joe Coughlin. “Movie Scrapple is our tip of the hat to that legendary show, while still having a very Philly sensibility. People love bad movies and have always wanted to talk back to the screen, so we’re going to do it for them live!”

Movie Scrapple runs through the following dates:

Friday, September 6 – 11:59 pm
Friday, September 13 – 11:59 pm
Friday, September 20 – 11:59 pm

The Adrienne Mainstage, 2030 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
