Sketch Comedy Classes

Philly Improv Theater is the only place in the metro-Philadelphia region to offer classes in comedy writing. Fortunately, we also have connections to the best writer/teachers in country – including Kevin McDonald from Kids in the Hall, Kevin Allison from MTV’s The State, formers SNL writers Ali Farahnakian, Christine Nangle. Former PHIT students have gone on to write professionally as humorists, authors, and the even TV writers for shows like Two and a Half Men and Nickelodeon’s Marvin Marvin.

Our sketch offerings consist of a core curriculum in sketch writing and a variety of special workshops and writers groups developed by our staff and instructors – people who have toured extensively around the country, had wildly successful viral videos on the internet, had their comedic writing appear in print, and written for television.
