MASTER CLASS – “Television Comedy Writing”: This seminar-style master class will lay out everything you need to know about the process of becoming a TV staff writer. First, how to write and structure a 30-minute sitcom script for television. Second, a guide to the business end of TV writing: how to write a spec script for an existing TV show, what goes into a joke or a sketch packet for specific TV shows, getting an agent, going into meetings with network executives and showrunners, getting hired, surviving the writers room, how the process of writing and producing a television sitcom works, and not getting fired. Students will also be invited to pitch their original sitcom pilot ideas and receive notes, feedback, and constructive criticism from the instructor and their classmates.

What Students Say About Luke: “Luke was really good at making everyone feel comfortable and didn’t assume that anyone already knew what he was talking about, which was nice. A lot of things he said stuck with me, and I felt really excited to write when I left!” – “Luke broke everything down into digestable chunks. He answered all questions and covered everything, including money, which a lot of people would be hesitant to talk about. He stayed until everyone was satisfied, and that was awesome.” – “Luke was engaging, candid, and very insightful.”
