Madonna Marie Refugia (instructor)

Madonna is a graduate from The University of the Arts where she studied playwriting with Jeffrey Sweet and Albert Innaurato. There, her plays, The Big Reveal and The Dandyville Preteen Cherub Miss Pageant were produced. She recently studied with Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall and has also studied acting, improv, and sketch comedy at The Walnut Street Theater, PHIT, and The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Madonna performs regularly with sketch comedy group, ManiPedi. Nominated for the 2012 and 2013 WitOut Award for Best Sketch Group, ManiPedi has been featured on the cover of Philadelphia Weekly and named one of the top picks for the Boston Comedy Arts Festival by DIG Boston. Madonna was also a member of Camp Woods, which won the 2013 WitOut Awards for Best Regular Show (Camp Woods PLUS) and Best Sketch. As a member of ManiPedi and Camp Woods, Madonna has performed in the Chicago Sketch Fest, Ladies are Funny Festival in Austin, TX, New York City Sketch Festival, Philly Sketch Fest, and the Women in Comedy Festival. Offstage, Madonna enjoys Netflix, The Legend of Zelda, and replacing song lyrics with her dog’s name, Schroeder.
