Gimmick Show has been performing every other month for a while now and Jon and Marissa Edelman are looking to add to their team. Gimmick Show is a late night variety talk show parody that features character-based interviews and interruptions as well as an overarching plot for each show. We also have a band headed up by our sidekick, a boy-aged superhero named Regular Boy, whose power primarily involves being the most regular boy. We’ve featured characters like Bjork, an actress who only plays trees, and a politician who’s running for every office on earth, amongs others. Guests frequently try to undermine or overthrow Gimmick Show, so the show goes off the rails while the hosts try to control the chaos.
The current Gimmick Show crew writes for their own characters, so although we are looking for writers and actors, preference will be given to people who want to both write and act.
Actors should prepare a character monologue and we will also have them do a cold read from an existing Gimmick Show script.
Writers should submit a 10-page sketch packet.
