This year, for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, PHIT is cookin’ up something extra-special for homegrown audiences. Under the direction of sketch stalwart and member of legendary local sketch projects Flat Earth and Secret Pants Paul Triggiani, PHIT will be producing a sketch show that is not just by Philadelphians about Philadelphia for Philadelphians, but also by non-Philadelphians about Philadelphia for Philadelphians, and we want you to write for it!
PHIT is looking for writers who can think outside the box, surprise the audience, and (most importantly) bring the laughs! We’re looking less for sketches about Cheesesteaks and Ben Franklin, and more interested in the smaller cultural pockets and details of Philadelphia that show we’re so much more than Pretzeltown or Batteryville or whatnot. We strongly encourage women, people of color, people in the LGBTQIA community, people with disabilities, and veterans or active military service persons to submit a writers packet!
We ask that all writers submitting packets are either enrolled in or have completed Sketch 101 at the Philly Improv Theater Training Center. Writers who do not meet this prerequisite can still apply with the permission of the Scripted Producer. Simply submit your form and packet and be sure to fully detail your writing experience. If you are interested in acting for this project but not writing, keep an eye out for actor auditions later this year.
With so many skilled writers in the Philadelphia comedy community, we are excited to create another opportunity to showcase their talents. We look forward to reading your submissions!
