We host multiple shows every night of the week with a variety of acts. Please see our full calendar for specific showtimes and detailed information on the acts performing.

Most shows run 50 minutes. You can check your specific show’s ticket to confirm the start and end time of an individual performance.
Do you offer food or drinks at the show?
No, the theater does not sell food or beverages, however we are BYOB – so you can bring in snacks and drinks (including beer and wine). There are many great dining options for any budget in the immediate area of Rittenhouse Square that are perfect for grabbing a bite or drink before or after a show.
What is your BYOB policy?
All shows at the theater are BYOB! Please be prepared to show your I.D. upon request. You are free to bring beer and wine, however we ask all visitors at the theater be respectful and mindful of their fellow audience members. We reserve the right to ask any patron to leave at anytime. If you need to grab a six pack or a bottle of wine before the show, we recommend:
Monde Market, 100 S 21st St, Philadelphia, PA 19103
What is improv, anyways?
Improv (or improvisational) comedy, is a form of comedy where the performers make up everything you see on stage right before your eyes. From the dialogue, to the characters, to the plot, most shows begin with nothing more than a simple audience suggestion. From made-up musicals, to irreverent scenes, to explorations of relationships, every improv show you see at Philly Improv Theater is being performed for the first, and the last, time!
Do you have any shows that aren’t improvised?
We host the best original sketch comedy in Philly every Friday and Saturday night, in addition to an occasional weeknight show. Sketch comedy is a comedic exploration of a concept, character or situation. Sketch features material written and rehearsed in advance, along with props and costumes to aid the performance of the sketches, like you might see on Saturday Night Live.
We also host comedy variety shows where the laughs can come from just about anything: songs, powerpoints, poetry, drag, dance, burlesque and more.
Do you have stand-up comedy shows?
We occasionally host stand-up comedy shows – usually showcases with multiple comics appearing over the course of an hour. See the full calendar if you’d like to look for a stand-up show to attend.
Are there any age restrictions?
Shows at the theater are technically open to all ages, but we recommend patrons be 16 and up. While we do not enforce an age restriction on any particular show, parents and guardians are advised that the performances often contain strong language and adult subject matter.
Looking for something for the whole family? We host a monthly family-friendly show, Family Time, as well as other kid-friendly performances throughout the year. For more information, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 267-233-1556.
How does PHIT help patrons attending shows who require accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act?
As part of Philly Improv Theater’s mission to serve a broad and diverse audience from throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, we strive to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities. In order for us to best accommodate your specific needs, please contact us with your request prior to purchasing tickets.
