Beginner Improv Skills: Students will learn a combination of storytelling, theatrical, and improv comedy skills with a core focus on improvised scene work. Through a series of fun and imaginative games and lessons, students will gain skills in listening, cooperation, character, environments, object work, and thinking on their feet. The course will culminate in a class demonstration by the students of an improvised play, using a story outline filled in by the students.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Sarah has been on the teaching faculty of the PHIT Kids and Teens program since 2015. She is a member of the PHIT house team, Overlook and formerly, Fjord. She can also be seen performing in the Family Friendly show Finders Keepers; her sketch duo Kathryn and Sarah; and StoryUp! an interactive children’s show. She’s the creator and director of the original musical, Becoming Vegan. Sarah has studied improv at the Philly Improv Theater under Greg Maughan, Nick Gillette, Kristen Schier, Jess Snow, and Brian Rumble. She also has studied musical improv under Jerome Kurtenbach. When not involved in teaching or performing improv, Sarah can be found teaching music to children of all ages.
