Intro to Improvised Scenework: Students will learn the basic improv concept of “Yes, and..” and discover how a scene can be created through agreement. They will also learn important basic improv skills like: creating characters, establishing relationships, exploring scenes with objects and environment work. Students will then combine these skills to create fully improvised scenes with a partner. Meets once a week for eight weeks.
Dates: 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, & 2/28

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Tia Kemp started improv in 2013 at Seattle’s Unexpected Productions. She has completed two intensive trainings at The Second City, Chicago under Tim Soszko, Susan Messing and Rachael Mason. Since moving to Philadelphia, Tia has performed with two house teams at PHIT, Jillroy and (in space). Currently, Tia is directing her first house team, performs with American Express Comedy and teaches an improv class for international students at UArts. In her free time, Tia loves spending time with friends, dancing, listening to music and trying not to cry while watching This is Us.
