Intro to Stand-Up: This six week class will give you a basic, usable understanding of how to begin crafting a stand-up comedy act, from absolute beginner advice on stage presence to different approaches to generating material. Students will learn how to take their thoughts, experiences, and observations about life and blend them with their own unique sense of humor and personality to begin crafting their own routine. Includes class performance a the end of the course.
Dates: 4/18, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Class Location: ONLINE! PHIT’s online classes are taught via Zoom Video Conference and student’s receive a link to the virtual classroom at the start of the course, along with reminder links 15 minutes before the start of class each week.
Graduation Show Date/Time: To be determined. Student’s for this online class will have a virtual class show for family and friends, and will also be offered an in-person graduation performance once Philly Improv Theater is able to open for the public.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Meg Goetz is a versatile stand up comic that has been performing all over the country for over 6 years. Currently, she is a host at Helium Comedy Club and Punch Line Philly, which has given her the opportunity to open for Gary Gulman, Sasheer Zamata, Joe List and more. She has performed at many festivals all over the east coast. These include the Pittsburgh Comedy Festival, The New South Comedy Festival and the Finger Lakes Comedy Festival.
