At this time, Philly Improv Theater is not presenting in-person or virtual performances.

PHIT continues to monitor the guidance from public health agencies and officials regarding the timing of our re-opening. We currently have no anticipated date for the return of performances (either virtually or in-person). As soon as it is safe to do so, we’ll get back to putting on shows and will be excited to welcome you into our space again!

For My People: A Game of Stereotypes & Monoliths

December 27, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

For My People is a comedy game show that tests your cultural aptitude, makes you feel uncomfortable, and keeps you in stitches all at once. The game pits two marginalized groups against each other, for an opportunity to face The White Dudes.

Each of two protected classes or minority groups will be represented by a team of comedians. These brave comics have agreed to reduce their cultures to monoliths, and speak on behalf of their people.

Both teams, and The White Dudes, will respond to questions and challenges presented by the host, Philly Standup Comedian Kat Mosley. Kat chooses matchups from the cultural controversies in her Facebook feed. There is no shortage.

For My People is high intensity diversity training: stereotypes and prejudices are exposed; an ally drops in to reflect with the host; contestants are invited to disclose triggers; and there is real-time recognition of on-stage inequity. Comedians learn, teach and laugh their way off the rails, taking the audience with them.
