The Investigation of Warden Michael J. Cassidy

October 12, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

It’s 1897. Michael Cassidy, warden of Eastern State Penitentiary, stands accused of cruelty and inhumanity, of neglect and incompetence. And no one—no one—is above the law. Come hear the warden’s testimony, uncover evidence, and make your judgement—is he innocent or guilty?
This new play by Alanna Shaffer and Christine Freije pits Cassidy against an audience of “investigators” in a battle to preserve his reputation and his prison’s legacy. Half historical drama, half immersive absurdist comedy, this piece is a cutting, satirical examination of hypocrisy, power, human isolation and the limits of impunity.
